Waukesha Farmers Market (Sat, September 19, 2026)

We will be participating in the Waukesha Farmers Market on September 19th this year.

We want to grow!

We need to get the word out that we are here!

We need a few people willing to help at this event.

We will need a few people to help set up at 6:30 am.

We need a few people who can give us an hour or 2 during the event to talk to people at the market and be able to help inform people about us!

Volunteers can participate in the whole event if you are able.

We will also need a few people to help pack up at the end of the day.

We only have a 10x10 space and will not likely have a lot of space for chairs for people to sit, please keep that in mind and plan accordingly.

Renee Love is coordinating with the Farmers Market personnel, if you have any questions feel free to ask Renee directly, or on the discord conversation under committees in the Waukesha Farmers Market channel.

Intro to Hand spinning Yarn on Drop Spindle (Tue, September 29, 2026)

Drop Spinning Beginner Class

What is Drop Spinning?

What are Fiber Arts?

Have you ever made anything with yarn?

Have you ever wondered about how yarn is made?

Want to give it a try?

Whether you have never picked up a spindle before or are currently able to lap spin or park and draft, I can make you more comfortable and confident in your future spinning adventures. We will go over some basic spinning information and terminology; I promise, no pop quizzes. But I love sharing my love of spinning and nerdy side with some fun science stuff.

Bring your spindle or borrow one of mine. I will also have spindles available for purchase.

Approximately 1 oz of fiber will be provided per student. If you have a drop spindle, feel free to bring it. However, you are still welcome to try one of mine.

There are no prerequisites for this class.

The instructor is Renee Love of Wavellite Creative. (bio below)

Maximum class size is 6 (due to size of location).

Note: Full Class cost is $50, 50% Discounts offered for Paid members of the Waukesha Makerspace.

Payment is required before class. Renee will reach out to registrants for payment.

Feel free to email Renee at: WavelliteCreative@gmail.com

Please, be sure to register, as space is limited.

Additional dates and times will be added as needed.

BIO:

Renee has lived in and around Milwaukee, WI, all her life. She was introduced to fiber arts at a young age by an aunt with a Llama farm, and later learned to knit and crochet, still while quite young. This is not the original direction she thought life would take, having earned several college degrees, including a Master of Architecture from UW-Milwaukee. She now fully embraces this fiber arts adventure. Once Renee learned to spin yarn, it became her passion. Spinning yarn more than anything else, has led her to selling her hand-spun and making it her career. Officially founding her business, Wavellite Creative LLC, in early 2021. She has been spinning for years and has been designing drop spindles for almost as long. She also designs and builds spinning wheels by hand. Teaching started with the selling of things to spin yarn with. Discovering a talent and a joy of sharing her love of spinning. Renee has been steadily adding to the options and range of class levels she offers. Renee now travels to many fiber arts festivals around the country to both teach classes and sell her products. You can also find Renee at the Waukesha Makerspace, teaching classes and building spinning wheels.

Learn more about Renee and her products by visiting her website: www.WavelliteCreative.com

Open House & Tour (Thu, October 08, 2026)

Curious what a makerspace actually looks like in real life? Come see it.

This open house is designed for new and prospective members who want to explore the Waukesha Makerspace, take a guided tour, and ask questions in a relaxed, no-pressure setting. You’ll walk through the shop, see the tools and work areas, meet current members, and get a clear picture of how membership works.

This event is not a member meeting or business update. It’s purely for people who want to:

See the space in person

Learn what tools and resources are available

Ask questions about memberships, training, and projects

Get a feel for the community before deciding if it’s a fit

No experience required. No commitment expected. Just show up curious.

Intro to Hand spinning Yarn on Drop Spindle (Sun, November 08, 2026)

(bio below)

New Member Orientation w/Brian (Wed, December 09, 2026)

Whether you're here to tinker, build, craft, or explore—New Member Orientation is your first step to becoming an active part of the Waukesha Makerspace community. This session is mandatory for all new members before using the shop or participating in community activities.

During orientation, you’ll receive a full walkthrough of our space, learn how to safely and respectfully use our tools and equipment, understand our policies, and get your key fob tested and activated. We'll also cover how to reserve storage, find resources, and get involved with volunteer efforts, workshops, and events.

⚠️ Registration Code Required:
To register for orientation, you must enter a registration code. This code can be found in the membership application confirmation email you received after applying for membership. If you cannot locate your code, please reach out to a board member or contact us through the website.

What to Bring:

Your completed liability waiver (or plan to fill it out onsite)

Comfortable, closed-toe shoes (you may walk through active shop areas)

A positive attitude and any questions you may have!
