Come out and join us as we get together for our monthly fiber arts social! Bring your favorite WIP (or maybe one you've been avoiding!) and enjoy your craft surrounded by other fiber artists. Whether your hobby of choice is knitting, crochet, tatting, weaving, or something else within the fiber arts world, you are welcome! While this is not a structured class, you are welcome and encouraged to ask questions or get some pointers from peers during the social. We don't bite!

We will meet in the conference room if it is available, otherwise you will find us out in the shop in the leather and fiber arts section. We can't wait to meet you!

Step away from the tools, screens, printers, lasers, and half-finished projects and join us for a laid-back Waukesha Makerspace Summer Picnic ☀️

We’ll be gathering at Hales Corners Park, Picnic Area #2 for a full, no-pressure day of good company and fresh air. This is a bring-your-own food and drinks picnic. You’re welcome to bring something to share if you feel like it, but there’s absolutely no obligation. Bringing food and drinks just for yourself is 100% acceptable and never judged.

Alcohol isn’t frowned upon, but this is very much a be responsible, be respectful kind of afternoon. The goal is relaxed, not rowdy.

Expect casual games like bocce ball, frisbee, and other “we’re here to relax, not compete” classics. Feel free to bring any games you enjoy. The real objective is conversation, laughter, and enjoying time with fellow makers without an agenda or a stopwatch.

Bring your own chairs, blankets, or other comfy setup. Picnic tables are typically available, but personal comfort is king.

This picnic is a long-running tradition. Tom and Casey have been hosting this get-together for nearly 20 years, and it’s truly rain or shine. We usually bring EZ-Up awnings just in case, and believe it or not, the rainy years have still been a blast.

Family and partners are welcome. Come for the whole day or just swing by when you can. Build nothing. Fix nothing. Just exist pleasantly with good people.

    • Date: Sunday, August 9
    • Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • Location: Hales Corners Park, Picnic Area #2
5765 S New Berlin Rd, Hales Corners, WI 53130

It's important to do regular maintenance and cleaning of the laser module itself but also things like the honeycomb and tray.

This reduces fire risks, prolongs the life of the machine, and also ensures better quality cuts.

We will cover the full process of cleaning our S1 40w machine. The process can get messy, you will smell like burnt wood after. PPE is recommended!

We will cover the basic beginner info from how to utilize the FREE account that xTool offers, to how to adjust the different feature settings to get desired results based on test arrays. We will go over how to place and secure your materials in the machine for best results. We will touch on some of the applications and additional features in the works space. Of course safety will also be covered.

I highly advise using the cloud storage for projects that is offers with the account.

Get a head start by going to XTool.com and and downloading 'xTool studio' so you can take a look at it before we are all at the computer together.

We will be participating in the Waukesha Farmers Market on September 19th this year.

    We want to grow!

We need to get the word out that we are here!

We need a few people willing to help at this event.

We will need a few people to help set up at 6:30 am.

We need a few people who can give us an hour or 2 during the event to talk to people at the market and be able to help inform people about us!

Volunteers can participate in the whole event if you are able.

We will also need a few people to help pack up at the end of the day.

We only have a 10x10 space and will not likely have a lot of space for chairs for people to sit, please keep that in mind and plan accordingly.

Renee Love is coordinating with the Farmers Market personnel, if you have any questions feel free to ask Renee directly, or on the discord conversation under committees in the Waukesha Farmers Market channel.
